Nothing more clearly illustrates the continued necessity for organized labor than to see labor's struggles through the eyes of our forefathers, recalling that those battles were relatively recent in historical terms.

In these days where our members lives have become increasingly busy, and the average member may not remember, or perhaps, even takes for granted the protections that were fought for and that we enjoy today, or the realization that those rights are constantly in jeopardy, here is a reminder that is as important today as it was when the battles were fought.

We hope this is a page that you will visit in your spare time, to see the history that was conveniently, and by design, left out of our US History books as we grew up.

Report on Unions across the US in 2011

The following is a brief email from President Rich Trumka of the AFL-CIO regarding unions in 2011. It was a tough year for union members, especially in the mid-west as they fought, and are still fighting, attempts to end collective bargaining and impose terrifying Right-to-Work (for less) legislation.
